Northern Iowa man dead after semi collides with tractor

MITCHELL COUNTY, IOWA – A Northern Iowa man lost his life while operating his tractor in Mitchell county.

According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place Friday morning, April 17, 2020 at 8:10 AM in Mitchell county. Brandon Wendt, age 43 of Mankato, Minnesota, was driving southbound on Monument Avenue near 450th Street in a Freightliner semi when he attempted to pass a John Deere tractor operated by James Duponcheele of Staceyville, Iowa. Duponcheele was attempting to turn left into a driveway and was struck from behind by the Freightliner.

As a result of the collision, Duponcheele was killed.

  1. Yikes, I wondered what happened to the tractor sitting by Osage Towing and Repair. Never seen a tractor that messed up.
