WATERLOO, IA –– State Senator Bill Dotzler, an Assistant Minority Leader in the Iowa Senate, announced his endorsement of Mayor Pete Buttigieg for president today. Senator Dotzler is in his fifth term after previously serving three terms in the Iowa House. Senator Dotzler also served in the United States Army. This marks Pete’s first endorsement from a sitting State Senator in Iowa.
“I’m endorsing Pete Buttigieg for President because he offers a new kind of leadership,” said State Senator Bill Dotzler. “As a veteran, as a mayor, a person of faith, and as a fellow midwesterner –– Pete has a unique set of experiences that can unite the country and defeat Donald Trump. He is focused on healing the divisions in our country, uniting the people, creating high quality jobs for working class Americans, and improving the lives of everyday Americans. You can already see his message resonating in Waterloo and across the state and I look forward to joining him on the campaign trail and talking to Iowans about why Pete is the best candidate in this race.”
Last weekend, Senator Dotzler took Pete on a tour of Cedar Valley Techworks –– an advanced manufacturing, research, innovation, education, commercial, and manufacturing center is Cedar Valley.
State Senator Dotzler joins 88 other Iowa Democratic leaders from around the state who are backing Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
