Workshop on hunting, fishing, trapping to be held in Mitchell County January 25-26

OSAGE – Registration is now open for the Jan. 25-26 Beyond BOW workshop in Mitchell County. The two-day, hands-on workshop headquartered at Mitchell County Conservation in Osage, is an opportunity to learn to ice fish, squirrel hunt, rabbit hunt, fur trap, and process fur and game.

The registration fee is $75, which covers course materials and lunch on Saturday. Attendees are responsible for their own lodging and should plan to eat prior to arriving each day. Registration is available at https://www.iowadnr.gov/bow

Beyond Bow Agenda

Friday, January 25

6-7 p.m.: Check-In

7-9 p.m.: Bonfire/Stargazing or Raccoon Hunt

Saturday, January 26

8 a.m. -12 p.m.: Session 1: Choice of Ice Fishing, Rabbit Hunting, Squirrel Hunting, or Fur Trapping

12-1 p.m.: Lunch (Provided)

1-5 p.m.: Group Session: Fur and Game Processing

5 p.m.: Wrap-Up

Participants will need to a valid fishing license for the ice fishing course, hunting license for the rabbit and squirrel course, and fur harvester license for the fur trapping course before the workshop.

Beyond BOW is a continuation of the popular Becoming and Outdoors Woman (BOW) workshop that focuses on teaching outdoor skills to women 18 years or older. However, the workshop is open to anyone, regardless of gender.
