CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man who was charged with lascivious acts with a child has been acquitted of those charges by a Floyd county jury.

The Floyd county sheriff’s office arrested 33-year-old Jason Wilson on September 27, 2017 on arrest warrants charging him with lascivious acts with a child – inflict pain or discomfort (a class D felony) and indecent contact with a child (an aggravated misdemeanor).

According to KCHA news, Wilson was accused of kissing and inappropriately touching a 13-year-old girl on August 22, 2017.

However, on December 22, a Floyd county jury acquitted Wilson of those charges and set free.

they apparently had a witness who gave her story and it must have been good enough to pass the test of “reasonable doubt” or he would not have been charged. not saying he is guilty but don’t blame law enforcement for it, I investigated child sex abuse for 10 years and it was always gather the information and turn it over to the county attorney and they decided if there was enough there to file charges. don’t know how Floyd county does it but that’s the way I did it.

First, it’s not a reasonable doubt standard to make an arrest, that’s for a conviction. It’s a probable cause standard for an arrest and charges, which is a much lower standard. You should have learned that in your 10 years of investigations. These accusations are all too often false and there is no way back from the devastation that they cause. Don’t blame the cops, blame the gung ho Nazi prosecutors who are so myopic that they can’t and won’t consider any other possibilities.

This 33 year old young man is my nephew! He was wrongly accused of these bogus charges and forced to spend over 3 months in jail for something he DID NOT do!! He not only had to spend time in jail, he lost his wonderful family and will probably never be able to get a job in Charles City again, even though he was found INNOCENT! Im sure he was treated badly while in jail because of the nature of the bogus charges too!! The prosecution tried like hell for 4 hours to get him convicted! If it were any one of their family members would they have done the same thing?? They wanted him found guilty of something that never happened!! It makes me sick that such a wonderful young father and husband had to go through something as horrible and degrading as being sent to jail for nothing!! Do you think anyone believed he was innocent and still treated him with respect?? Hell no! Some of his wifes family members actually wondered if he could have been capable of such a thing!! Ive known Jason all of his life and knew he was not guilty of such a thing! That young man has always been a great father to his children!! What about all of the time he sat in jail accused??? What about his poor family?? I hope and pray that this whole mess doesnt cause Jason to lose whatever he hasnt already lost!! So unfair and sad!!

They should go after and charge the person who made the false charge. She should be jailed.
