Mason City woman arrested for drug charges – again

MASON CITY – A wanted Mason City woman was caught with meth by a deputy and now faces a felony charge.

A Cerro Gordo county deputy encountered a subject with an outstanding warrant on Halloween night, October 31, at about 8:35 PM near 300 North Washington Avenue. After an investigation, the subject, Aranda Jo Cowell, age 37 of Mason City (formerly of Charles City) was arrested for probation warrant and also for felony third-offense possession of a controlled substance (meth) and drug paraphernalia.

Cowell remains in the county jail at this time, held on bond, awaiting a court appearance.

Cowell was served with an arrest warrant on November 11, 2014 by Floyd county deputies in connection to crimes she allegedly committed between May of 2013 and October of 2014. She was accused of eight counts of tampering with records, nine counts of prohibited acts with a controlled substance and identity theft. She allegedly tried to obtain morphine and hydrocodone from local drug stores and pharmacies.  She was later given suspended prison sentences.
