AMES – The Iowa State men’s basketball team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2016-17 Big 12 Preseason Poll, which is voted on by the league’s coaches.
The Cyclones, who went 23-12 overall last season and finished tied for fifth in the Big 12 with a 10-8 record, were picked behind Kansas, West Virginia and Texas. The votes from spots two to four were separated by just nine points in the poll.
The Cyclones are led by Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year Monté Morris. ISU also returns key senior contributors Deonte Burton, Nazareth Mitrou-Long and Matt Thomas.
Iowa State plays its exhibition game Nov. 6 against Sioux Falls at Hilton Coliseum. The regular season opens on Nov. 11, when ISU hosts Savannah State.
