All Veterans – All Eras barbecue to be held this year

NORTHWOOD, IOWA – A family-friendly barbecue for all veterans will be held once again this year in Northwood.

Veterans and their families are invited to the 12th annual “ALL VETERANS – ALL ERAS” Family BBQ on Saturday, August 20th at the Northwood fairgrounds Shelter House, with serving starting at 1:00 PM. The event was paused last year in lieu of VVA chapter members volunteering to staff Operation LZ last August. But we’re back and looking forward to great time.

This picnic for veterans is hosted by Vietnam Veterans of America, Jerry Parmley North Star Chapter 790. Veterans from all around the region will be gathering, from WW2 to Korea to Vietnam to Desert Storm to current Iraq and Afghanistan troops, and cold war periods as servicemen and women come together to share the day. Family members are welcome as well.

An all-American menu of burgers, bratz, hot dogs and cold lemonade will be served, and event organizers welcome all appetizers, side dishes, salads, fruit bowls, and desserts to share. There will be no need to bring platters, plates and utensils – this is all provided.

Entertainment is included, too.

Commraderie among veterans of all eras has always been the theme of this event. If you haven’t attended this veterans gathering before, you won’t want to miss this great time for veterans of all branches of service.
