CHARLES CITY – The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office last year arrested a Charles City woman on over a dozen charges related to prescription drug fraud, and this week she has entered a plea deal.
Aranda Jo Cowell, age 34, was served with an arrest warrant on November 11, 2014 by Floyd county deputies in connection to crimes she allegedly committed between May of 2013 and October of 2014. She was accused of eight counts of tampering with records, nine counts of prohibited acts with a controlled substance and identity theft. She allegedly tried to obtain morphine and hydrocodone from local drug stores and pharmacies.
Court records show that all the charges against Cowell have been dismissed except two count of prohibited acts. She is now awaiting sentencing on June 29 after entering a guilty plea this week.
