RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – A teen was cited for a traffic violation after pulling into on-coming traffic and causing an accident that left several injured.
The accident happened at about 6:26 PM at the intersection of 310th Street and Eagle Avenue. A 2014 Ford Taurus driven by 29-year-old Jennifer Nicole Koch of Lake Mills was southbound on Eagle Avenue. The vehicle had three passengers – 35-year-old Joel Alan Koch, 9-year-old Kane Michael Koch and 4-year-old Tucker Allan Koch. As the vehicle approahced the intersection of Eagle Avenue, a 2012 Nissan Altima driven by 16-year-old Hanna Marie Lovstad of Algona with a passenger, 35-year-old Jeni Regina Oelkers of Garner, pulled away from the stop sign there and into the path of the Taurus, causing a collision that disabled both vehicles.
Both Oelkers and Lovstad were taken by Mason City ambulance to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. The Koch’s were taken by a family member to a hospital to get checked for injuries.
Lovstad was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.
