Accused Mason City thief skips court and is jailed

MASON CITY – A Mason City woman facing at least her third theft charge by Mason City police failed to appear in court and was taken to jail.

Tiffany Renae Farhat, age 33, was due court on January 20 for a pre-trial hearing in connection to an enhanced third degree the charge. She also had a trial date of January 27 that she skipped. A warrant was issued on January 20.

Farhat was also wanted on a second warrant issued on January 14 for violating the probation she was given in connection to an earlier guilty plea to theft in the third degree. She could face a 2 year prison term and a $625 fine, which were both suspended as part of her plea deal and probation.

Farhat was brought to jail on February 7 to face the warrants. No new trial dates have been set.

Farhat also pled guilty to third degree theft in August of 2013 in Cerro Gordo county.
