Mason City man flees cops

MASON CITY – A Mason City felon fled from a traffic stop early Friday morning but cops were too fast for him and he was caught.

Todd Eric Thoreson, age 45, was pulled over Friday just before 3 AM by a Cerro Gordo deputy for a traffic violation near 14th Street and North Hampshire Avenue. However, Mr. Thoreson made a run for freedom but didn’t get far before he was caught and cuffed for a ride to the jailhouse.

Thoreson was charged with driving while barred, driving under suspension, no insurance, and interference with official acts. He was released later Friday.

Thoreson is a convicted felon on drug and burglary charges, as well as being an armed felon.
