MASON CITY – On an otherwise gorgeous day, a strong wind downed tree branches in Mason City and took out a power line, interrupting service for dozens of folks.
The incident took place near the intersection of 12th Street NE and Carolina Avenue. An Alliant Energy crew was on the scene making repairs at about 2:15 PM. Mason City police were also there directing traffic.
An Alliant Energy spokesman said “we had a tree limb come down into the wires. It’s affecting about 105 customers. We have crews on the scene, and this should get wrapped up soon.”
