MASON CITY – Two new school board members were sworn in Monday evening at the regular meeting of the Mason City School Board.
Janna Arndt and Mark Dodd were sworn in as new members of the board, while Timothy D. Becker and Robert Thoms begin new terms on the board.
Some former and current school board members were given awards for their years of service, including Michelle Applegate, Mark Young, and Gary Hoffman.
Superintendent Anita Micich thanked Mark Young and his group of volunteers for helping the two school levies to pass. There was about a 14% voter turnout.
Administrator Hal Minear gave a preliminary enrollment count; elementary school numbers are slightly up, preschool is slightly down.
It was reported that “99.9%” of all school construction is complete, but there are a few items on a “punch list” that need attention.
