MASON CITY – Police nabbed two Mason City men for alleged public drunkeness Sunday morning.
According to a report, Bruce Allen Simpson, age 55, and Enrique Chavez, age, 45, were in the vicinity of West Park and Parker’s Woods on 1st Street NW Sunday at about 10:30 AM when police arrested both men for intoxication.
Police said Tuesday that an MCPD officer observed a group of adults on the trail behind the tennis courts in West Park. “Some appeared to be intoxicated,” an MCPD officer said. “The officer approached the subjects. Two of the men, Bruce Simpson and Enrique Chavez, were arrested for Public Intox. Chavez was also charged with Providing False Information.”
Simpson’s charge was elevated to aggravated status, as just last month he plead guilty to aggravated public intoxication, third or subsequent offense, after an incident on June 25th where he was arrested by Mason City police. In that incident, police responded to a call stating that Simpson was threatening to shoot a gun if he wasn’t left alone after being transported to the Mercy ER in an ambulance. “He apparently got upset and left the ER,” police said. “He was reported to be lying on the ground at 1st Street SW and South Taylor, making threats involving a gun.”
As of Monday evening, Simpson was still in jail on $2,000.00 bond.
