DES MOINES – Adam Matthew Moss, an inmate assigned to the Iowa State Penitentiary Clinical Care Unit was discovered unresponsive in the assigned cell at approximately 5:50 P.M June 26, 2013.
Moss was found hanging with a bed sheet around the neck tied to a wall vent. An emergency was immediately announced. Health services staff and additional security staff responded immediately. The sheet was immediately detached and upon examination by medical personnel it was determined that Moss was deceased.
The Lee County Medical Examiner arrived and confirmed the cause of death to be asphyxia due to suffocation. Because the death was not due to natural causes, an autopsy will be conducted.
The incident remains under investigation.
Moss was 35 years old and serving a life sentence from Woodbury County for seven counts of Murder First Degree. This sentence began on September 25, 2001.

Save all the explanations & mass confusion- make it the last step of judicial system if convicted~ bring back the death penalty in Iowa and ENFORCE…
Everyone with a life sentence should be given a gun and 1 bullet and a quiet room. If they choose to follow this path, it would save the tax payers MILLIONS of dollars
Nice idea. But I don’t see too many murders taking this option.
