MASON CITY – A man resting at a bus stop in Mason City brought a pretty big response from authorities Sunday evening.
Around 8:15 pm, Sunday, a report of a man passed out at 19th and South Federal Avenue was called into the Police Department.
At the scene, Mason City Fire Department EMT’s, Mason City Police Department and Iowa State Patrol responded to this call.
The man was sitting on a bus stop bench with his bike across his legs. Apparently, he was just resting and was okay. He looked overwhelmed at all the attention.
The man was not charged with a crime.

Just imagine what it costs taxpayers when Homeland Security tries to round up all those illegal Filipinos or when Vice tries to round up all those Hookers. I guess the cost to do a welfare check on a person sleeping on a bench isn’t that much after all.
I’ve only been here for almost 3 years so I am the newbe
So… sleeping hobo lost on his way to Britt costs taxpayers thousand$ … great job MCPD!
They did an excellent job at responding as usual!
A big Thank You, to all those that responded to this call. I don’t know this person but it could have turned out differently. It’s good to know that there are people in this town that care enough about others to call this in.
bus service must suck.
Probably from the North end looking for LVS !!
If he is as dumb as you he will never find me IDIOT.
Hey factless-why don’t you come here to the North End. We know just how to treat trolls like you, you sissy.
