“Cranksgiving” bycycling event to benefit charities

MASON CITY, IA – Local cyclists will hold their annual food drive, “Cranksgiving”, to help feed the hungry in North Iowa.

Area cyclists are invited to meet at Lorado’s on the Plaza, 18 S. Federal, Mason City, on Sunday November 11th. Participants will be given a shopping list, and ride from store to store buying certain items to donate. All items and cash donations will be given to the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank, and the Humane Society of North Iowa.

Door prizes for participants have been donated from our sponsors; Splash Multisport, Mason City Brewing, HED Cycling, Carlos O’Kelly’s, Wayne’s, Bennett’s, and Lakeside Cyclery.

Lorado’s will have bowls of chili for sale, with proceeds going to the food bank and Humane Society. Hot beverages will be donated by Coffee Cat. There is no cost to participate, other than the food you purchase. Registration will begin at noon, with the ride starting at 1:00pm. Cyclists are encouraged to bring a lock, a bag, and about $20 to purchase food. All ages and abilities are welcome, and those not interested in riding are invited to enjoy the activities at Lorado’s.
