Death at NASCAR Sprint Cup NRA 500 infield called self-inflicted

FORT WORTH, Texas, April 14 (UPI) — Police said a racing fan died of a self-inflicted injury Saturday night after getting into an argument at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.

The incident occurred on the racetrack infield during the closing stages of the NASCAR Sprint Cup NRA 500 stock car race. Details of the death were not reported.

Police told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram alcohol may have been a factor but declined to reveal the cause of death. No one was identified as a suspect in the case.

The deceased fan was identified Kirk Franklin, 42, Saginaw, Texas.
