CHARLES CITY — A report of a shoplifter led to multiple criminal charges against a Nashua man on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Charles City Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Kelly Street at approximately 12:42 p.m. on April 8, 2026. The response was triggered by a report of a theft in progress at a local business.

Following an on-scene investigation, authorities arrested 63-year-old Craigton Robert Wilharm. In addition to the theft report, officers allegedly discovered illegal items in Wilharm’s possession.

Wilharm (pictured at top) has been charged with fifth-degree theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance (marijuana). Police noted that the narcotics charge is being filed as a third or subsequent offense.

Wilharm was taken into custody and transported for booking. The Charles City Police Department was the primary agency on the scene.
