MASON CITY – The Mason City City Council recognized a team of emergency responders and police officers for their heroics. (See photo, right.) Each professional was given a certificate for their heroics in saving a person’s life in an incident last fall, when a car went in a river.
Long-time city employee Chuck McGreevey was recognized as well. A certificate of appreciation was presented to family. McGreevey recently passed away.
Presentations were given by Visit Mason City and Main Street Mason City.
On the only action item of the night, the council agreed with City Administrator Brent Trout’s recommendation that in negotiating labor agreements, the city would hire Ahlers & Cooney law firm out of Des Moines at a cost of $6,750 per contract. A limit of $20,250 flat fee would be the limit paid for negotiation services, plus expenses. The firm would be paid $195 per hour for other legal advice.
