Tweet Larry Stadtlander, 77, of Thornton, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the Sheffield Care Center. Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, January 31, at the Thornton United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton.
Visitation will be Saturday at the church beginning at 9:30.
Larry “Tweet” Eugene Stadtlander was born June 3, 1948, in Hampton, to Louis and Gertrude (Smit) Stadtlander. He was raised in Meservey and graduated from Meservey – Thornton High School. On June 8, 1974 Tweet was united in marriage with Connie Jensen at Richland Lutheran Church in Thornton. He worked as a custodian and bus driver for M-T, SCMT, and West Fork Schools for over 27 years. He always enjoyed the kids and let them know they were important to him.
Tweet served his communities on both the Meservey and Thornton Fire departments and the Thornton City Council for several terms. He was very proud of his gardens and with family and friends did a lot of canning the produce. He could be found most every morning at the gas station for coffee at 8 am then the post office at 9:30. Fishing trips with friends to Webster, South Dakota were annual rituals. Listening to Willie Nelson on driving trips to visit his sister Brenda in Oklahoma with sisters Shirley and Bev were very memorable. With Connie they took many trips including to Alaska and he was glad for those times as well as trips with his great niece to Washington to see nieces. Attending the Meservey Fireworks each year was important to him as well as the Memorial Day Services.
Tweet is survived by his sister, Shirley Proctor, Thornton; sister, Bev Stadtlander, Meservey; brother, Dean (Renae) Stadtlander, Clear Lake; sister, Brenda (John) Bracklein, Shawnee, OK; aunt and second mom, Esther DeVries, Sheffield; aunt Sue Smit, Hampton; brother-in-law, Mike (Betty) Jensen, Thornton; sister-in-law, Kathy (Tom) Janeka, Thornton; sister-in-law, Laurie (Glenn Maas) Mecham; special great niece, Jovie ‘Bean’; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Connie; his parents; brother Richard and great nephew Zak Slagle.
