CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man accused of sexual abuse allegedly violated the terms of his pre-trial release and was nabbed by police on a judge’s warrant, plus a no-contact order violation.
On December 11, 2023, at 8:22 AM, officers with the Charles City police department conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of North Jackson Street. While the driver received two traffic tickets, the passenger was found to be a wanted man, 40-year-old Kevin Fiala of Charles City. A judge had issued an arrest warrant for Fiala on December 6 after the department of corrections submitted a pre-trial violation report to a judge. Fiala was also due in court this day at 9 AM to go before a judge for an arraignment.
After an investigation at the scene, Fiala was arrested on the warrant and a no-contact order violation. The driver was not charged with a no-contact order violation.
As NIT previously reported, Fiala (pictured above) was arrested in November on a charge of felony C sexual abuse. Fiala is being held in the Floyd county jail on a $5,000 bond as he awaits a December 18 arraignment.
