Wendi Lea Tolan, 53, of Ogden, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Unity Point Health – Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Wendi was born on May 24, 1972, in Perry, at the Dallas County Hospital, the daughter of Jerry Culbertson. She attended school at Yale Jamaica Bagley and graduated from Panorama High School in 1991. Wendi then attended and graduated from the Spencer School of Business in Spencer.
Wendi was united in marriage to Shawn Tolan, they later divorced. To this union three children were born, Austin, Tyler and Katie. All of the kid’s friends she treated as one of her own, her love knowing no bounds.
Wendi was currently employed as the City Clerk for Grand Junction. She was an avid professional wrestling fan, especially for Stone Cold Steve Austin, and a big dog mom to her two dogs, Marsh and Veda. Wendi enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, and often enjoyed sitting down with a good book. You could always catch her on the side lines of the kids’ activities being the loudest parent cheering for them.
Her fondest memories were always with her kids whether it was sitting around for a family dinner or watching Scooby Doo and scary movies, but absolutely no musicals.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Culbertson; mother and father-in-law, Susan and David Tolan; grandparents, Raymond and Edith-Belle Culbertson, and George and Lois Dorr; uncles, Kim Dorr and Kevin Dorr.
Wendi is survived by her children, Austin (Taylor) Tolan, Tyler Tolan (Addison Adcock), and Katie Lea Tolan; and three sisters.
A celebration of Wendi’s life will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Leonard Good Community Center, 114 SW 8th Street, Ogden, IA 50212. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family for later designation and can be mailed to the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, P.O. Box 15, Boone, IA 50036, please write ATTN: Wendi Tolan Family on the envelope.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at 1006 6th Street in Boone.
