GALT, IOWA – A fire at a Northern Iowa egg farm caused significant damage Sunday.
A call to the Centrum Valley Farms facility in Galt, Iowa confirmed that a major fire took place, but details were scant as the investigation into the blaze is continuing.
It has been reported that up to 150,000 of chickens died in the late afternoon fire.
The fire consumed the northernmost of the facility’s 14 barns, the Wright County Monitor reported. The facility does not have a sprinkler system.
No employees were injured in the fire.
