Robert “Bob” Tyer, 95 of Clear Lake, died Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City, Iowa.
Visitation will take place from 4:00p.m.–6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 First Ave North, Clear Lake, Iowa. Memorials may be directed in care of the family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 North 4th Street, Clear Lake, Iowa, with Al Berge leading the service. Burial will follow in the Clear Lake Cemetery.
Robert Lee Tyer was born on April 26, 1930, in Osage Iowa, the son of Horace and Edyth (Fredricks) Tyer. He spent his childhood in Osage and graduated from High School in 1949.
On June 11,1950 he united in marriage to Mary Turner of Mitchell, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Mary Lee, Susan, Daniel and Deborah.
At this time the family lived in Nashua, Iowa. Bob worked at Oliver & White Farm Equipment. He was a member of the First Methodist Church. Bob spent many years as the Boy Scout leader in Nashua. He was very active in all his children’s activities through High School. One of our favorite activities was fishing with Dad.
One of his special loves was music. Bob played trumpet and sang in several bands in the area. He was a member of the Midwest Cowboys, the Sun Valley Playboys, and The Four Guys.
Bob was united in marriage to Sandra Day on March 4, 1979. The family lived in Clear Lake Iowa. They were members of Zion Lutheran Church; he was also a member of the IOOF Lodge. Bob continued to work at White Farm and later did maintenance work in the Clear Lake area for many years.
Bob loved his children and grandchildren. Family times were his favorite. Every time we said Goodbye you would hear, “I Love You More” from Dad.
Those left to cherish these memories are his children, Susan Crandall (Oelwein), Dan & Judy Tyer (Waverly), Deborah & Kevin Fitzgerald (Mason City) and Jason Tyer (Clear Lake). His step-children, Jodi Craighton (Clear Lake), James & Lindsey Craighton (Clear Lake) and Julie & Shawn Bogle (Clear Lake). Bob had many Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren. Along with many nieces, nephews and family friends. He will be dearly missed.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Mary Lee Tyer and son-in-law Dan Crandall. His step-children, John & Lora Craighton, Jeana Amundson and great-grandson, Jamison Skuster.
