OELWEIN – This Northern Iowa suspect was recently placed on probation for felony theft and burglary, then cops say he intentionally drove like a maniac and put his vehicle in a ditch, where he was nabbed for drunk driving.

On August 23, 2025, at approximately 12:29 AM Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a vehicle in the ditch at Neon Road and 18th Street. Upon investigation it was determined the driver, 22-year-old Dillion Kristofer Schweer of Oelwein, Iowa, was intentionally driving in an erratic manner and slid into the ditch. Schweer was arrested and transported to the Fayette County jail on the following charges:

– Careless Driving

– Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense

He was quickly released on a promise to appear in court later.

Records show Schweer was placed on probation for 5 years back in January of 2024 after he was found guilty of felony theft and burglary, after he had been chraged by the West Union police department in 2022. Records show he owes over $4,000 in that case to Iowa courts, and they have him in collections.
