OSAGE – This Mason City resident of the South Jefferson area found himself behind the wheel of a vehicle on two separate occasions recently, allegedly drunk, and law enforcement did not tolerate his supposed shenanigans, notching at least his fifth and sixth arrests for OWI.
Jefferson Jano George, age 43, was nabbed by the Iowa State Patrol on March 22, 2025, in Cerro Gordo county. His defective muffler was a dead giveaway, and a trooper stopped him. George was charged with the bad muffler violation, no insurance, driving while barred and felony operating while intoxicated. He was booked into the Cerro Gordo county jail just before 2 AM that morning. He posted bond and was released. George has entered a not-guilty plea and awaits a possible jury trial set for July 15.
George was not dissuaded from more possibly illegal driving, as he was apparently in Osage on the evening of March 30, 2025. Osage police stopped him near the intersection of North 4th Street and Pine Street while driving and after an investigation, arrested him at 8:23 PM on the following charges:

George was released the next evening on a promise to appear in court. He now awaits arraignment in this case in Mitchell county on May 6.
