WHITING, IOWA – An Iowa woman is facing a charge of murder after a man was stabbed to death, but she says it was self defense.

On March 16, 2025, at approximately 12:05 AM, the Monona County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 16757 County Highway K42 in Whiting, Iowa, for a 911 call. Upon arrival, deputies found an unresponsive male subject.

A joint investigation was conducted by members of the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and the Monona County Sheriffs Office. Reportedly, the deceased male, 50-year-old Justin David Luth, was stabbed, and Kluge says it was self defense as she told police she was attacked first.

As a result of the incident, Veronica Kluge, a resident of the home, was charged with felony first-degree murder. She was taken to the Monona county jail and held on bond.
