Fisherman saved at Cedar Falls park after falling through ice

CEDAR FALLS – A fisherman fell through ice at this Cedar Falls park and struggled to stay above water as emergency responders raced to the scene.

On February 6, 2024, at 4:08 PM, Cedar Falls Public Safety was dispatched to 1600 W. Viking Road (Prairie Lake Park) for a person who fell through the ice. Dispatch received a call of a fisherman in the water yelling for help. Public Safety Officers on patrol arrived prior to the fire units and assisted in the rescue. The subject was rescued quickly and placed in an ambulance.
