Robert “Bob” James Fistler

August 29, 1942 – January 13, 2024

Born to Helen (High) and Kenneth Fistler in Iowa Falls, IA on August 29, 1942. Attended Albia, Ackley, and Manly schools until 1960 when he joined the Nation Guard, served from 1960-1972. Siblings Fred (Mary) Fistler, Jim (Judy) Fistler, John (Carol) Fistler, and Shirley Fistler.

Married to Gerene (Oxley) on April 20, 1963 in Rock Falls, IA. Loving father of Kathy (Mike) Heagel, Karen (Mike) Balluff, Billy (Jodie) Fistler. Proud grandfather to Amanda (Troy) Slinger, Jessica Duitscher, Leah (Seth) McDowell, Nathan Heagel, Bryce Orfield, Michaela (Jerimiah) Colon, Ericka Orfield. Great grand-father to twelve.

Railroad worker for Minneapolis St Louis, Chicago North Western, and Union Pacific Railroad for 50 years. Proud union member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way for 50 years.

Remembered as an avid coin collector, hard worker, and having a persistent personality. He was always there when he was needed and would help his family however he could.

Preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-laws; siblings Jim and Fred Fistler; brothers-in-law Alan, Henry, Marvin, and Mike Oxley.
