MASON CITY – On December 31, 2018 at 6:06 PM, the Mason City Fire Department (MCFD) responded to a structure fire at Mint Springs Dentistry located at 851 S. Taft.
The fire was exiting the building from the northeast window when units arrived on scene. MCFD did a fast attack through the northeast window to knock down the fire and then MCFD staff forced entry through the front door and checked the building for any occupants/civilians. No occupants/civilians were in the building. MCFD staff extinguished hot spots and preformed overhaul in the building to extinguish fire in the attic area. The fire department was on scene for about 3 hours.
The fire is still under investigation. Insurance company investigators are assisting the MCFD with arc mapping of electrical systems in the building to help with cause determination.
