Minnesota man nabbed after threats at small Iowa town library

WEST UNION, IOWA – A Minnesota man was nabbed by police after he drove a stolen car and entered a library, where he made threats to hurt himself and others.

On January 16, 2018 at 3:48 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the West Union Police Department were notified of a stolen vehicle out of Howard County which was later located at the Casey’s General Store in West Union. After a brief investigation, information was obtained that the driver may be in the West Union Library and that possible threats had been made to harm himself and or others. The suspect was located in the library and taken into custody without incident. Brandon Kimber, age 19 of Rochester, MN was arrested and charged with theft in the first degree for having possession of a stolen 2014 Toyota Venza. Theft in the first degree is a class “C” felony and if convicted could face up to ten years in prison.

Kimber was transported to the Fayette County Jail.
