MASON CITY – A Mason City man was able to work a plea deal in an alleged sex assault case and has been sentenced to a month behind bars.
Mason City police told NIT that on December 17, 2016, Joshus Winders (now of Mason City) was arrested on a valid arrest warrant at the Yes Way (Central) convenience store in Mason city at 11:41 PM. The warrant was for 3rd Degree Sex Abuse (a Class C Felony). The warrant stems from an incident that was reported in Mason City on Aug 3, 2016. Police could not divulge any other details on that alleged crime. When Winders was arrested at Yes Way, he was also allegedly found in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Winders was charged with two drug offenses and arrested on the warrant.
Court records show that in a plea deal, Winders is guilty only of assault. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and court costs. He awaits sentencing on March 20 for the drug possession case.
