MASON CITY – The Lime Creek Nature Center is holding a photo contest for participants of all ages to showcase nature and activity photos taken at Lime Creek Conservation Area or any other Cerro Gordo County Conservation areas. Photos may be taken at any time of the year.

There will be two rounds of judging. Initial submissions will only be accepted electronically via email until Friday, August 3 at 4 p.m. Send submissions to LCNCphotocontest@gmail.com. No more than three entries per contestant are allowed, and all photos must be taken at a Cerro Gordo County Conservation Board area. A list of these areas is available on the conservation board website at: www.cgcounty.org; or call 423-5309 to request a brochure.

Email entries must include the following information: first and last name of the photographer, address, city, state, zip, phone number, email address, title of the photo, where it was taken, and age of the photographer (and grade in school) if 18 or younger.

Photographers will be notified by email prior to August 10th if their photo(s) have been selected for display and the second round of judging in the photo show. If selected, printed photos must be delivered to the Lime Creek Nature Center by Friday, August 24th. Printed photos should be no larger than 8×12”, preferably mounted on rigid poster or mat board, and may be with or without a window mat. All photos must be unframed. There should be no hooks or wires attached to the back of entries. Do not cover entry with cellophane, acetate or glass. No name or watermark should be displayed on the photo. Name and contact information should be on the back of the printed photo.

1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons and cash awards will be given in three categories:

Youth grades K-8; Youth grades 9-12; Adults
Photos will be on display at the Lime Creek Nature Center after Labor Day through the month of September, with a recognition reception at the Annual Fall Festival on Sunday, September 9th. Photos may be picked up by participants during the first week of October.

By submitting photos to the contest photographers are giving permission to the Lime Creek Nature Center to use the photos for conservation education or promotion of the Lime Creek Nature Center or County Conservation Areas.

Members of the Lime Creek Nature Center Foundation Board of Directors, the Cerro Gordo County Conservation Board and employees of Cerro Gordo Conservation Department are not eligible to participate.
