MASON CITY – Charges against a woman for striking parked cars while driving drunk have been dismissed.
The incident took place August 9, 2016. At 5:25 AM that morning, a collision was reported at 944 17th Street NE. A caller reported a motorist had struck two parked vehicles near this location. Officers with the Mason City police department responded and stopped the driver of the offending vehicle, 23-year-old Nicole Lynn Rippentrop, nearby.
Rippentrop was arrested for first-offense operating while intoxicated and two counts of striking an unattended vehicle.
Rippentrop later entered a guilty plea in the drunk driving charge and was sentence to 2 days in jail, lost her driver’s license, and must pay $1,851.50 in fines and court fees as well as restitution.
Later in December, the two charges of striking unattended vehicles were dropped, but she was assessed court costs of $120.
They should at least make the dropping of charges contingent upon paying fines and fees. If the fines aren’t paid according an agreed upon payment schedule, the charges will be pursued.
That won’t happen. It makes to much sence.
Sence..since..SENSE ..you know what I mean. Darn spiel cheqers anyway
