MASON CITY – A fire was reported at Cargill Kitchen Solutions in Mason City, located at 1750 South Benjamin Avenue, at about 10:00 AM.
Mason City police and firefighters were at the scene. Workers were asked not to comment on the incident. It did not appear that anyone was injured.
Workers at the plant were evacuated to the south parking lot and watched as firefighters worked to put out thick black smoke.

Cargill is completing a $12.5 million expansion of its Mason City facility, and will be fully operational by Spring 2012.
