Benefit to be held for young Sheffield child diagnosed with Leukemia

Screen Shot 2016-09-04 at 1.04.44 PMSHEFFIELD, IOWA – A benefit is scheduled this month for a young Sheffield child diagnosed with Leukemia.

Landon Tollefson was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) in April. He has been receiving treatment in Iowa City at UIHC since that time and will undergo a bone marrow transplant on October 13th.

Friends and family have organized a benefit for him on September 18th in Sheffield. It will be a birthday themed benefit, as he spent his 3rd birthday (Aug. 24th) in the hospital, family tells NIT.

“We will have a wide variety of carnival games for the kids, including a bounce house, face painting and a magic show,” his grandmother, Tammy Sorensen, says.

“A free will lunch of beef burgers, walking tacos and hot dogs will be served from 11-2 PM. We will be having root beer floats and sundaes for $2.00 throughout the day. Our silent and live auction will have many wonderful items.”

Included in the live auction will be:

A signed football from the Green Bay Packers (the entire team has signed it)
A dishwasher from Zilges
4 round trip tickets from Air Choice One
A signed picture from Chicago Cubs, Anthony Rizzo
An autographed picture from Pete Rose
Items from ISU, Iowa and UNI (wonderful items from Seth Tuttle)
2 signed and numbered Terry Redlin prints
A cedar patio cooler
Items from the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears
iPad Air
And more

“We will also have Iowa Marrow Organization there to offer information on how to become a bone marrow donor,” Tammy Sorensen explained. “Iowa Life Serve and Iowa Organ Donation will also have information to hand out.”
