MASON CITY – NIT has learned today that a local credit union has stepped up to help the Mason City library put on a public event.

According to Mason City Library Director Mary Markwalter, Cent Credit Union in Mason City “called and asked if they could sponsor” the President Abraham Lincoln impersonator who is scheduled to perform at the Library at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 in the Mason City Room.

The Mason City Public Library Foundation is sponsoring a 30th Anniversary Celebration for the History and Archives Department in the Commons on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.  The MCPL Foundation is also a sponsor for the Lincoln Impersonator performance.

“These should be really great events and they are offered for free and are open to the public,” Mrs. Markwalter said.

The sponsorship from Cent Credit Union “was a really nice surprise this week,” she said. Cent will donate $500 to help pay for the Lincoln impersonator, Lance Mack, who will give speeches and history lessons in the Mason City Room starting at 7 PM that evening.

Mrs. Markwalter offered “many thanks for the hard work, dedication and support of the Mason City Public Library Foundation Board Members and Cent Credit Union.”
