FOREST CITY – A Buffalo Center kindergarten teacher has hired a high-powered Des Moines attorney to defend himself against a charge of lascivious acts with a child.
Allen James Twait, age 61 of Forest City, is facing a charge of lascivious act with a child. Records show the alleged incident took place on February 20, 2015. A criminal complaint was filed by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office on February 28.
Twait’s attorney, Alfredo Parrish of Des Moines – known for taking high-profile cases, such as former Iowa basketball player Pierre Pierce’s rape case – entered a written arraignment for Twait on April 9 and a not guilty plea. A jury trial was set for June 24, 2015 and a pre-trial conference was scheduled for June 9.
Twait is listed as a kindergarten teacher in the North Iowa Community School District in Buffalo Center, Iowa. Reports indicate he has been placed on leave until this case is played out in court.
