Mason City woman jailed after drugs discovered during traffic stop

MASON CITY – A Mason City woman was jailed along with a man from Greene after illegal drugs were found during a traffic stop, and she then failed to appear in court.

Cory Lynn Mathahs, age 46, was arrested along with Chad Joseph Motz, age of Greene, back on March 2, 2015 after 1 AM in the morning during a traffic stop that was conducted for moving and equipment violations near the 1000 block of Elm Drive NE in Mason City. Illegal drugs – including marijuana and another substance – were discovered during the search of the suspects and vehicle. Mathas was jailed, released after posting $1,000 bond and ordered to appear for an arraignment on April 8. She did not show up and a warrant for her arrest was issued. She turned herself in early Monday morning and has forfeited her bond. No new court date is set, yet.

Motz, who was driving during the traffic stop, had a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia dismissed. He pled guilty to driving with a revoked license. He was sent to jail for 2 days and ordered to pay $1,520.00 in fines and court fees.
