CEDAR RAPIDS – Nine area nonprofit organizations are receiving community grants totaling $12,000 from the Alliant Energy Foundation in its second 2014 giving cycle. The grants bring the year-to-date total given in the region to $40,250.
Among those earning grants from the Alliant Energy Foundation are:
· City of Sibley, $2,500 to enhance community branding
· Garner Community Center Inc., $2,500 for the Hancock County Portable Stage Project
· Southwest Minnesota American Red Cross Chapter, Worthington, $2,000 for disaster services
· ARC of Freeborn County, Albert Lea, Minn., $1,000 for adaptive out-of-school programming for people with disabilities
Also receiving grants are: Newman Catholic School System, Mason City, Iowa; Pelican Breeze Foundation, Albert Lea, Minn.; Community Policing Advisory Board, Mason City, Iowa; Marin County Mentoring Network, Fairmont, Minn. and Northwest Iowa Mental Health Center, Spencer, Iowa.
“These nonprofit organizations provide substantial benefits that improve life in the community,” said Julie Bauer, executive director of the Alliant Energy Foundation. “We have seen the good that they do, and we are proud to support their efforts.”
