  1. What’s the big deal. Police can steal from you and don’t even have to bring charges. It’s called forfeiture and used to pay LEO salaries in the county.

  2. This is all to common these days. What is going on with these people? Put them on a chain gang and let them learn the value of work.

  3. The police should release the names of these juveniles, I’d like to know if one of them were living next to me. If you steal from a department store, you’ll steal from anybody.

    1. First you should start by reading here about the truth of who is stealing from whom.

The problem is beyond a few kids petty shoplifting. The problem is global, corporate and Chinese. Kohls is stealing from American manufacturers, so perhaps a few kids lifting their Chinese goods is in order.

I know, I hate to try and justify theft, because I deplore thieves, but white collar theft exists on levels proletariat can’t comprehend.

      1. You are right about white collar theft and greed, I see it, read and hear about it daily. But two wrongs don’t make it right. Another revolution is long past due.

      2. Pete, you justify all crime and to you it is always somebody else’s fault. You need to get a grasp on reality. Just a spoiled little rich kid. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

  4. If they are found guilty (can’t forget there’s a process here), after restitution, then have them do something like cleaning up trash around the Indianhead development.

When they complete that, have them pick a long-term community service for which they can find some enjoyment.

Giving people something to do that they like and that benefits the community might help them decide that it’s more fun to better themselves and others instead of getting theft rush and subsequent punishment.

    1. 20+ years ago my friend’s pre-teen son took a toy from Shopko–on a dare from a friend. In addition to the punishment he rec’d at home, he had to scrub toilets at the fairgrounds for a few weeks. I can guarantee you he never shoplifted again! Later, another friend’s teenage daughter, after shoplifting from KMart, had to work at the Salvation Army store for several week-ends. She actually enjoyed the work, and to my knowledge never took anything again. Both punishments got the point…
