WASHINGTON, D.C. – The alleged corrupt head of the Health and Human Services department has resigned after it was discovered he was using a taxpayer-funded private jet for his own personal use.
It has recently been reported that Thomas E. Price, M.D., Secretary of Health and Human Services department, submitted a bill to the government for up to $400,000 in private charter plane flights.
After intense scrutiny, Price tried to brush the matter aside Thursday with a statement promising to pay back all the money and never take another taxpayer-funded private jet flight.
“I regret the concerns this has raised regarding the use of taxpayer dollars,” Price said. “All of my political career I’ve fought for the taxpayers. It is clear to me that in this case, I was not sensitive enough to my concern for the taxpayer. I will take no more private charter flights as Secretary of HHS. No exceptions. Today, I will write a personal check to the US Treasury for the expenses of my travel on private charter planes. The taxpayers won’t pay a dime for my seat on those planes.”
However, his actions weren’t enough, and President Donald Trump alluded that Price could be fired.
As a result, Price tendered his resignation.
“In order … to move forward without further disruption, I am officially tendering my resignation as the Secretary of Health and Human Services effective 11:59 PM on Friday, September 29, 2017. You may rest assured that I will continue to support your critical priorities going ahead because failure is not an option for the American people.”
