Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $.27 per barrel over last week, currently at $97.33.
Brent crude oil rose $1.13 this week, currently at $109.49.
One year ago WTI crude sold for $85.68 and Brent crude was at $109.40.
Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, October 23rd, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.17 across Iowa according to AAA. This is down $.09 from last week and down $.22 from one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $3.28, down $.06 from last week’s price.
Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa fell $.04 on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $3.74. One year ago diesel prices averaged $4.00 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel average is $.11 per gallon lower than the national average of $3.85.
Wholesale ethanol prices fell $.02 this week, closing at $1.80. The price of Mid-Grade Blend in Iowa (10% ethanol) closed at $3.03 per gallon, down $.10 from last week’s price and down $.27 from one year ago.
Heating Fuels
Propane prices rose $.02 compared to last week’s price with a statewide average of $1.58 per gallon. Home heating oil fell $.07 from last week’s figures, ending with a statewide average of $3.36. Natural Gas prices in Iowa were down $.12 from last week’s report, ending the week at $3.57 / MMbtu.
