niacc_trojans_logoMASON CITY – The NIACC volleyball team wrapped up its season Wednesday with a 3-0 win over Ellsworth in the NIACC gym.

“It was a great way to end with a conference win,” NIACC coach Chris Brandt said, “especially winning 3-0.

“Earlier this year, they beat us pretty good, but we came back, fought, played our game and played as a team (Wednesday).”

NIACC (15-17 overall, 2-8 in the ICCAC) was led by sophomore Lexy Nodtvedt (Manly, Ia.) and freshman Jessica Balek (Manly, Ia.) wiwth nine kills apiece.

Wednesday’s match was the final one for sophomores Nodtvedt, Bisbee, Brooks and Altman.

Nodtvedt, Bisbee and Brooks played two years for the Lady Trojans.

“I’d say every set of sophomores is special,” Brandt said. “Those three that were with us both years had such a great work ethic. They wanted to succeed. They had that passion.”
