A Forest City business, HMR Supplies, is among seven companies that have been selected as finalists in the 2013 John Pappajohn Iowa Business Plan Competition.
In the first round, businesses submitted brief information about their business plans. Based on those entries, judges chose 16 entrepreneurs to submit full business plans. Those 16 business plans were narrowed down to the final seven.
The seven businesses continuing in the competition are:
· Higher Learning Technologies, Coralville
· HMR Supplies, Forest City
· Memcine Pharmaceuticals Inc., Coralville
· Osteoceramics, Ames
· r-pipe, Ames
· ScoutPro Inc., Ames
· TelePharm, Iowa City
“Now that we have selected seven finalists, each business plan competitor will interview with a panel of judges on September 5th,” said Jamie T. Zanios, director of NIACC’s John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center and competition judge. “Based on those presentations, we will choose the top three finalists to recognize at a special awards ceremony on September 26 at Drake University.”
The John Pappajohn Iowa Business Plan Competition is designed to stimulate business development and provide support for outstanding business plans. This year a total of $50,000 will be awarded to the top three submitted business plans ($25,000 for first prize, $15,000 for second and $10,000 for third).
