Des Moines, IOWA — This month the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) secured two arrest warrants related to violations of the laws surrounding voter registration in the state of Iowa.
On March 5, 2013, 53 year old Nickie Dean Perkins was charged in Marshall County with two counts of Election Misconduct, 1st degree (D Felonies) and one count of Fraudulent Practice, 3rd degree (Aggravated Misdemeanor).
Mr. Perkins was released on his own recognizance.
On March 15, 2013, a complaint was filed in Cerro Gordo County charging 64 year old Jesus Adan Castorena with two counts of Perjury (D Felonies). After receiving a complaint, DCI worked with the Iowa Department of Transportation to review driver’s license applications for Mr. Castorena. The cooperative investigation revealed the suspect falsely claimed to be a U.S. citizen and subsequently registered to vote.
Warrants have been issued for Castorena’s arrest.
