Former Mason City Mayor Bill Schickel today made a  pledge to members of the Republican Party of Iowa.  The following was posted to his blog related to his candidacy for Republican Party Chairman:

These are the principles and goals that will guide my term if I am fortunate enough to be elected chairman:
  • To passionately defend our Party’s ideas and values
  • To bring cohesion and cooperation for the greater good of the party
  • A well-funded, well-organized party that uses the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) referred to in our party platform (Section 3.1)
  • A professionally managed party with a strong, respected media presence
  • A “News Media Boot Camp for Republicans” showing new ways to present our message
  • To fight for strong Republican victories in elections on all levels across Iowa
  • Ear-to-the ground, strong, passionate leadership
  • A party of Constitutional, conservative ideas and solutions that help middle class Iowans achieve the American Dream
  • To respect the grassroots conservatives, Liberty and Tea Party members who have infused our Party with energy and a re-commitment to conservative values

  1. Matt: If you want to talk to Schickel you could go to St. Joseph’s mass tomorrow, he’ll be in the front row.

  2. Anonymous, you’re right about Schickel needing a job and being a lefty, but you are wrong about Dr. Blodgett. That guy is farther to the right than any Republican I know. Ever meet the man? If old doc had his way, he’d get rid of just about every government program there is. I know, because he told me. This past summer.

  3. Buddy your right, no way Schickel could of helped Watts after Urdahl got Gary Blodgett to mail them letters to every Republican in Dougherty’s district. Even if Republican would of supported Chris more, probably he still would not of won, specially after Blodgett made sure a big bunch of them voted for the idiot.

  4. Bill is a liberal, and Blodgett may act like a RINO when it comes to some of our local races here. But I know Gary, and he is to the right of every Tea Bagger I have ever talked to.

  5. When you get right down to it, Willie Pickle needs a job.

Maybe his suck-wad buddie Gary Blodget, another RINO, can get him hired on in the party as another left wing loon adviser.

We have a very sick Republican Party. They all think they are for the people when they are spending us into bankruptcy right along with the Democrats.

Hang on to your guns folks, you are going to need them to protect yourselves from the Government, Democrats and Republicans alike.

  6. Shickel and them could not of helped Watts, with Gary Blodget mailing out anti-Watts broucheres to every Republican in Dougherty’s district, raising big money for Urdahl, & ect. Shickel is out of office I dont think he can raise money like Republicans will expect him to.

  7. Bill Schickle and John Rowe are examples why the Democrats are winning..

The voters see the Republicans just as liberal as the Democrats. So, why not just go ahead and vote for a Democrat?

I wonder if the rest of the states so called Republicans know just how foolish they look up here in North Iowa.

The Democrats are laughing their butts off.

  8. Would really be interested to hear Bill And John Rowe’s answers here. Very good points Matt. And yes, I heard the same as the above statements regarding the relationship with Urdahl.

  9. Mr. Schickel, I would like to respectfully pose a question to you. As a Republican party leader here in Cerro Gordo county, where was the party’s (and your) support for Republican party candidate Chris Watts? Why did you not make any supportive statements for his candidacy for County Supervisor? Why was no financial support from the party offered? The word NIT has received is that you refused to support Mr. Watts’ candidacy due to your friendship with Democratic Party leader John Stone and Supervisor Jay Urdahl, a former roommate of yours.

I will also post this question to your blog, and I hope to receive a timely answer. Thank you.

    1. Matt.. Once again you hit the target like a stealth missile! Bravo. Please keep your readers informed of Billy Bobs response, or lack thereof.

    2. Forget Schickel, what about John Rowe? Did he do even one thing to support Watts? He sure took his chance to get on TV and and talk about the election results, meanwhile he did nothing to help a candidate in his own party. This good old boys club is a joke, a real laughing stock.

  10. Schickle is arrogant and slimy. he doesn’t care one bit about the common people. He is an elitist and one of the hypocrital religious right who look down on everyone who is not one of his special people. The Repulican Party will regret it if they ley him into a position of authority.

    1. He is a RINO.

      Republican In Name Only

Republicans are just as liberal as Democrats. Not a dimes worth of difference.

  11. Bill Schickle can best be described as a RINO. Republican In Name Only!

Knowing Bill Schickle, I can tell you he is definitely not a Republican. Democrats infiltrated the Republican party years ago and Schickle is one of them.

Also, his one sided personality reeks of arrogance. Try talking to this guy and watch him smile, nod, and ignore you!

As far as the Democrats “winning” because they think a majority like their socialist agenda, have another think coming. Their power will be short lived.

Currently Americans are in a selfish mode. They want money and freebies from the government. Once the money dries up, and it will, Americans will suffer greatly and turn to the Conservatives (notice I did not say Republicans) to get them out of trouble.

Schickle will be nowhere to be seen!!!

    1. I left off the part about Schickle being part of the Socialist Media and one their political darlings.

Schickle’s professionally managed party with a strong, respected media presence is code for “I am in bed with the left wing propaganda machine.”

Remember folks, he worked in the media for years!

    2. OMG I love it!! I couldn’t have said it better. “Try talking to this guy and watch him smile, nod, and ignore you.”

I saw this very thing play out back in 2008 down at the Waterworks plant when there was a horde of us common people frantically filling sandbags, etc., in the effort to keep the water supply up and running (this was AFTER it had been down for a couple of days, then online for about 24 hours, but there was a serious threat of another heavy rain coming and the Winnebago was still running quite high). Anyway, good old Bill showed up to “help” (I don’t think he was very familiar with physical labor!!). Another gentleman attempted to engage a conversation with Mr. Schickel, and all he really got was the smile, nod, and ignore. I still see this episode in my mind like it was yesterday. For Bill, arrogance is a way of life.

  12. I don’t trust him — he used to be a democrat — he’s like Romney — changing his mind all the time.

  13. I see Bill left out any mention of the Republicans who might have some more liberal or centrist ideas about how to run the country. He better read LVS’s comment because it is right on the mark.

  14. What a Jerk! Under Billy Bobs leadership he couldn’t even get the vote count right during the Iowa caucuses. Remember how Romney “won” only to have Santorum declared the victor days later.

      1. He did win, Katie. While Romney and Mr. Sweater Vest sat back on their nutsacks, Ron Paul rallied the troops from the grass roots and took over the leadership of their county parties and did their homework. There’s no excuse for being lazy and Paul’s folks worked their asses off to get what they wanted.

  15. He had better look at promise number one real hard. The Republican Party was beaten because it has not listened to the majority of the people. It is a new world and they need to get in it. If all they are going to do is protect the wealthy they will lose again. They need to wake up. They were spanked and spanked hard in this election.
