(Op-ed by Peter Children)
The esteemed lead writer for the Globe reported Monday that the new council needs to begin rebuilding, that there existed a division between former members Weaver, Marsters and Nelson forming one side and Hickey, Solberg and Turnquist at the opposite end. Only a person who could neither see nor hear would fail to notice that. What else is new?
What he should have said was there existed a collusion between Hickey, Solberg and Turnquist that was not only suspect, but could be seen as unmitigated arrogance coupled with a blatant display of ignorerce. The voters of this city have made some major mistakes in sending people to fill those six seats, but the three that fill those seats have to rank high on the list.
In the game of politics you get what you pay for, and those three are perfect examples of just what I an referring to. I know a lot of blogers agree but those same people stay home on election day.
The new council will represent a new team as John states, it will undoubtly be a dream team for a small group living here….but he failed to mention that it will be a nightmare for the majority.
