White Iowa woman’s pit bull sought after attack on pedestrian

An Iowa pedestrian out for a gentle stroll allegedly encountered a white woman and her pit bull, and the vicious beast attacked, leaving the walker hurt and cops searching for clues.

IOWA CITY – A pedestrian out for a gentle stroll allegedly encountered a white woman and her pit bull, and the vicious beast attacked, leaving the walker hurt and cops searching for clues.

On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Iowa City Animal Services received a report of a dog bite.  The attack occurred around 4:30 PM on South First Avenue near Mayfield Road. The victim reported being bit while walking past a woman walking a dark-colored Pitbull on a leash. The owner of the dog was described as a white woman wearing a black sweatshirt.

Iowa City Animal Services is seeking information on the rabies vaccination status of the dog. If anyone has any information, they are encouraged to contact police.
